Emerald taps US, UK travel veterans as godmothers for dual naming
Emerald Waterways has named US travel industry veteran Kelly Bergin as the godmother of one of its two newest 'Star-Ships,' Emerald Dawn. And Julie Kendrick of Midcounties Co-operative Travel in the UK will serve as the godmother of Emerald Dawn’s sister ship, Emerald Star.

A dual christening is scheduled for Aug. 21 in Budapest.

With more than 25 years of travel industry experience, Bergin was recently named president of OASIS, a national affiliation of independent travel consultants. OASIS is a division of the Smart Travel Group and is located in Boca Raton, Florida.

Prior to joining OASIS, Bergin owned her own leisure travel agency in Salt Lake City and worked for Princess Cruises and Funjet Vacations as a business development manager.

Kendrick, head of commercial and marketing for Midcounties Co-operative Travel, was selected in a UK agent competition.

The new 'Star-Ships' carry 182 passengers in 72 suites and 20 staterooms, including two built for solo occupancy.
