The expedition cruise sector is booming, with newbuilds for Hurtigruten, Scenic, Crystal Yacht Cruises, Hapag-Lloyd, Lindblad Expeditions and Ponant, plus concepts from Damen/Expedition Voyage Consultants and SunStone Ships.

What's driving this trend, some of the ships' novelties, their styles, exploration tools and environmental technologies are highlighted in a cover story in the latest Seatrade Cruise Review.

The issue, which debuts at Seatrade Cruise Med in Tenerife, also features a special section on Mediterranean ports, a profile of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' Harry Sommer, and reporting on Canada/New England, the Southern Caribbean, the Panama Canal and more.

Among the featured ships are Regent Seven Seas Cruises' new Seven Seas Explorer and the remastered Queen Mary 2.
