Fathom reports that many of the affected areas are where its travelers on social impact programs have cultivated relationships with locals including El Javillar, San Marcos, Cabarete and Altamira.
Dominican Republic groups are collecting donated goods such as food, clothes, furniture and other necessities to help those affected, but the flooding has interrupted access to potable water.
Fathom is working alongside local humanitarian efforts including those of the Dominican Foundation, a nonprofit organization that strives to improve the quality of lives for children and families throughout the country. Currently, the Dominican Foundation is distributing water to flood victims who most need it.
Fathom is advising those who wish to help to visit https://dominicanfoundation.org/fathom/ and select 'Fathom Impact Programs' to contribute.
All proceeds will be used for the Dominican Foundation to purchase bottled water for those in need.
