Nieuw Statendam measures 99,902gt with a length of nearly 300 meters. Double-occupancy capacity is 2,666. As with Koningsdam, the interior design was created by Adam D. Tihany and Bjørn Storbraaten.

Some distinct features include the newly designed Rudi’s Sel de Mer, a French seafood brasserie; an alfresco dining area for pan-Asian Tamarind and Nami Sushi, a new sushi experience within the restaurant; and the new Club Orange restaurant exclusively for passengers in the Club Orange program. As well, Music Walk, offering a variety of authentic live musical experiences and genres, features the new Rolling Stone Rock Room for classic rock hits.

Naming ceremony Feb. 2 in Florida

Following its trans-Atlantic crossing from Civitavecchia, Nieuw Statendam will spend a full season in the Caribbean sailing round-trip from Port Everglades. Nieuw Statendam’s official naming ceremony will take place in Fort Lauderdale on Feb. 2. The godmother is Oprah Winfrey.

The ship will head to its summer homeport of Amsterdam in May for a series of Northern Europe, Baltic and Iceland cruises before making its way to the Mediterranean in September for cruises from Civitavecchia.

Fincantieri has built 87 cruise ships since 1990, including 64 since 2002. Another 53 are currently being designed or built in the group’s yards.
