Finnish interior supplier NIT engaged on Costa newbuilds at Meyer Turku

NIT turnkey contract for Costa Smeralda and sister being built by Meyer Turku
NIT has signed engineering and design turnkey contracts with Meyer Turku for some of the passenger and crew areasfor Costa Smeralda and sister ship - Costa Cruises' pair of LNG-powered newbuilds arriving in 2019 and 2012.

The Finnish interior supplier designed and constructed the crew stairs for both vessels as a steel-to-steel turnkey, each covering ten staircases and up to 6,000sq mtr .

It also provided 6,000sq mtr of visual turnkey deliveries including sun deck, family restaurant and kids club for each ship.

According to Jari Suominen, ceo of NIT, 'the company is continuing to develop new benchmarks and standards for this growing industry in collaboration with our long-time partner Meyer Turku.' He added, 'We will invest in steel, data and brainpower to build this success story together with the shipyard.'

NIT is headquartered in Kaarina, Finland and employs a workforce of approximately 100.
