A fire broke out late Monday night at Princess Cays, Princess Cruises' private island in Eleuthera, Bahamas.

The blaze encompassed several buildings on the south side of the island and was fought by local firefighters and island staff for approximately one hour before it was extinguished, Princess said.

No injuries

There were no passengers at Princess Cays at the time—about 11 p.m.—and no injuries were reported. No guest-facing facilities were impacted apart from one of several public restrooms.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

Princess said it is assessing whether ship calls will be affected.

2018 spruce-up

Princess Cays underwent enhancements in 2018.

Open since 1992, the destination spreads across approximately 40 acres, including more than a mile and a half of white sand beaches, and is a featured call on eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.
