The 362mtr long and 66mtr wide third Oasis-class vessel and largest cruiseship in the world is planned to leave the yard this evening at 17.30 for a three day test with some 500 people on board – including three pilots trained on a simulator - to check its speed, propulsion and turning capacity .
Royal Caribbean's newest ship will head to Belle Ile and Ile d’Yeu before sailing back to Saint-Nazaire arriving early Sunday morning.
A second series of tests are planned for April 7.
Slightly larger than its two previous sisterships 5,400 passenger Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas will carry 5,479 passengers and is scheduled for delivery on May 12.
It will be based in Barcelona for summer cruises in the Med before heading in the fall to Port Everglades, its permanent homeport.
A fourth Oasis-class ship is currently under construction at Saint-Nazaire for delivery in 2018.
