Production began for expedition newbuild Seabourn Venture with a ceremonial steel-cutting in San Giorgo di Nogare, Italy. Seabourn President Rick Meadows and T. Mariotti Managing Director Marco Ghiglione presided.

'... We are officially under way in making our first expedition ship come together,' Meadows said. 'We’re looking forward to watching raw steel transformed into a beautiful vessel. With Adam Tihany’s extraordinary design vision and Mariotti’s excellent and meticulous craftsmanship, Seabourn Venture will undoubtedly be a groundbreaking ship in ultra-luxury expedition travel.'

Seabourn Venture is scheduled to enter service in June 2021, with a sister ship scheduled in May 2022.

Longstanding relationship

'This project marks another milestone in our longstanding relationship with Seabourn, a partnership that has always been linked to crucial developments in the cruise line’s strategy,' Ghiglione said.

Each ship will accommodate up to 264 passengers in 132 verada suites. The vessels are being designed to Polar Class 6 standard and each will carry a pair of custom-built submarines. Twenty-four Zodiacs will enable all passengers to take a Zodiac tour at the same time.
