Jardine will take over from Peter Baily who has been with CATO from its beginning 25 years ago, first as inaugural chairman, then as gm.
Baily, who will retire at the end of March, now becomes CATO’s first Life Member.
Jardine had worked for river cruise specialists APT and Scenic before joining what was then the International Cruise Council Australasia in 2007. He left CLIA Australasia last year amid its reorganisation and set up a consultancy company, Cruise Boss, which has worked on projects for Viking Cruises and Intrepid Travel.
‘Brett is a proven leader in the travel industry and we are delighted to have him on board,’ CATO chairman Dennis Bunnik of Bunnik Tours said.
Bunnik said Jardine’s role will be to grow CATO and realise its full potential.
It is expected that Jardine will help some of CATO’s members to develop out-of-the-ordinary shore excursions.
