Former Deloitte deputy ceo joins Royal Caribbean's board (**updated**)
Update corrects number of directors to 13. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. appointed Maritza Montiel, retired deputy ceo and vice chairman of Deloitte LLP, to its board of directors.

Royal Caribbean chairman and ceo Richard Fain said Montiel's 35 years of involvement in professional services and her experience advising Fortune Global 500 companies in numerous industries will be a valuable addition.

Montiel served as deputy ceo and vice chairman of Deloitte from 2011 until her retirement in May 2014. Prior, she held numerous senior management roles at Deloitte, including managing partner for Leadership Development and Succession, Deloitte University, from 2009 to 2011, and regional managing partner from 2001 to 2009. She was the advisory partner for many engagements when Deloitte was the principal auditor. 

Montiel currently serves as a director of AptarGroup and McCormick & Co.

At Royal Caribbean, she becomes the 13-member board's second woman director, joining Ann Moore, former chairman and ceo of Time Inc.

Besides Fain, other directors are Arne Alex Wilhelmsen, chairman of AWILHELMSEN; John Brock, former chairman and ceo of Coca-Cola Enterprises; William Kimsey, former ceo of Ernst & Young Global; Eyal Ofer, chairman of Zodiac Maritime Agencies and chairman of Global Holdings, a real estate company; and Thomas J. Pritzker, executive chairman of Hyatt Hotels, chairman of Marmon Holdings and chairman and ceo of The Pritzker Organization.

Further directors are William K. Reilly, founding partner of Aqua International Partners, a private equity company, and former administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency; Bernt Reitan, former evp of Alcoa and group president for the Global Primary Products division; Vagn Sørensen, president of VS Consulting and former president and ceo of Austrian Airlines Group; and Donald Thompson, former president and ceo of McDonald's Corp.
