A seasoned executive with more than 20 years of financial experience in the sports, communications, media and entertainment industries, Cahilly will serve in a non-executive capacity on the 11-member boards. He'll be a member of the Audit Committees.
'Jason brings extensive leadership experience to Carnival and valuable expertise in a wide variety of areas,' Carnival chairman Micky Arison said.
Most recently chief strategic and financial officer of the NBA, Cahilly was responsible for setting strategic priorities and direction globally. This followed 12 years at Goldman, Sachs where he served as a partner and the global co-head of media and telecommunications, as well as a member of the Internet Investment Committee. Prior to that, Cahilly was a vp of Lehman Brothers in New York.
In other Carnival news, the company declared a 40-cent per share quarterly dividend. It will be paid Sept. 15 to shareholders of record on Aug. 25.
The announcements were made following the quarterly meeting of Carnival's boards, held Tuesday in Venice.
