Kevin Sheehan - led Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings until early 2015
Kevin Sheehan, ceo of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings until early 2015, has a stake in the company that's taking over the operation of short Bahamas cruises from the Port of Palm Beach.

According to The Palm Beach Post, Sheehan, along with entrepreneur Oneil Khosa, is among the owners of Paradise Cruise Line, a new venture formed to operate Grand Celebration's Bahamas jaunts.

The Post reports port commissioners have approved an operating agreement with the entity, which leases Grand Celebration.

Sheehan joined Scientific Games Corp. as ceo and president in August. He also serves on the board of the company, a developer of technology-based products and services for the worldwide gaming, lottery and interactive markets. Before, Sheehan was with Norwegian for seven years.

Khosa, who works as a shipping finance adviser and is managing partner of the new venture, told the Post Paradise Cruise Line plans to increase capacity. Grand Celebration sails year-round to the Bahamas from Palm Beach every other day, so it's possible a second ship could be added to the route.

Grand Celebration's usual destination is Freeport, but since Hurricane Matthew hit Grand Bahama Island in October, the ship has called at Bimini. Service to Freeport is scheduled to resume in early January.

Grand Celebration has operated the Bahamas service since February 2015. The ship is the former Costa Celebration, which previously sailed as Grand Celebration for Iberocruceros. It was built in 1987 as Celebration for Carnival Cruise Line.

In 2009, Khosa was ceo of Indian Ocean venture Blue Ocean Cruises/Louis Cruises India. He earlier worked as a vp at DVB Bank for five years where he was involved in managing a private equity fund that invested in cruise and ferry assets. Before that, he served as a first officer with Royal Caribbean.
