Free pre-cruise package opens Queen of the West's fifth season for ACL
American Cruise Lines is marking Queen of the West's fifth season on the Columbia and Snake rivers with a free pre-cruise package in connection with the year's first sailing on March 28.

The package gives a bonus night on board the riverboat with added events and tours. These include a private tour of Portland, Oregon's 100-year-old Pittock Mansion followed by a reception hosted by the estate's executive director. There will also be a visit to Portland's Saturday market, one of the largest open-air markets in the US.

When embarking Queen of the West, passengers will be welcomed by musical entertainment and a champagne toast. A show the night before departure will feature the musical duo Dave & Bo performing music from the Great American Songbook.

'Our guests are in for a treat,' said Timothy Beebe, vp of American Cruise Lines.

Queen of the West now offers more than double the number of cruises since its first season for American Cruise Lines in 2010, Beebe noted. The vessel operates eight-day sailings between Portland and Clarkston in Washington.

The company acquired Queen of the West in 2009 and completed various multimillion-dollar renovations and updates, while maintaining the historic look and feel.

American Cruise Lines is building a new Columbia riverboat, with planned capacity for 175 passengers.
