Galveston port, cruise lines sue over pilot rate hike

Galveston port, cruise lines sue over pilot rate hike
Carnival Corp., Royal Caribbean, the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association and the Port of Galveston have filed suit over a steep rate increase for Galveston harbor pilots.

According to the Galveston County Daily News, a government board approved a 30% increase in pilot fees over a three-year period.

The cruise companies and the port said the board erred because the Galveston-Texas City Pilots Association didn’t show enough evidence to support the rate hike.
