Genting HK buys Singapore club brand, Zouk

Genting HK buys Singapore club brand, Zouk
Genting Hong Kong acquired Zouk, a pioneer nightlife destination in Singapore that has evolved into Asia’s premier global club brand.

'As Genting Hong Kong continues to expand its reach in attracting a younger and more lifestyle-driven clientele, we are confident that the addition of such an iconic institution will further complement and enhance the company’s overall brands and offerings across the region,' said Andrew Li, vp Lifestyle and F&B Concepts, Genting HK.

For his part, Zouk founder Lincoln Cheng said he's always aspired to expand the brand beyond Singapore and Malaysia.

'Genting Hong Kong will take the Zouk brand to the next level and to greater heights together with the existing Zouk Singapore team, mapping its footprint out of Singapore and Malaysia, and for the future,' Cheng said.

Genting HK will acquire Zouk’s major trademarks along with the new Zouk Club in Clarke Quay, Singapore, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2016. As well, Genting HK will continue to operate the annual ZoukOut dance music festival with the next event upcoming this December. The agreement excludes Zouk Kuala Lumpur club at Jalan Tun Razak.

Launched in Singapore in 1991, Zouk remains at the forefront of the global clubbing scene 24 years on. Zouk has played host to hundreds of top name DJs and artists such as Carl Cox, Avicii, Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold, and presented many successful outdoor gigs including the music festival, ZoukOut.

To commemorate this event, Beatship, Genting HK's beach club cruise concept on board Star Cruises, will collaborate with Zouk Kuala Lumpur to take the party on shore with a new DJ event in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 23 at the indoor arena KL Live.

Headlined by top DJs including Grammy-nominated Paul van Dyk, Andrew Rayel and Aly & Fila, the event marks the beginning of more regional events to come with Zouk as part of the family, Genting HK said.
