Myanmar's MacLeod Island - now a stop on SuperStar Libra cruises, with a Genting Dream call planned in late November
Genting Cruise Lines—comprising Star Cruises, Dream Cruises and Crystal Cruises—signed an agreement with Tint Tint Myanmar Group to jointly develop cruise facilities at MacLeod Island.

MacLeod Island is a secluded paradise located in the Myeik Archipelago in southern Myanmar, listed as one of the Top 10 countries to visit in 2017 by the Lonely Planet travel guide.

MacLeod Island has untouched tropical forests that are home to a wealth of wildlife, white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters.

'Private islands are a key feature for many cruise lines in the Caribbean and, as a pioneer of the Asian cruise industry, we are excited to be partnering with Tint Tint Myanmar Group to help create the infrastructure on MacLeod Island to become a key private paradise for Genting Cruise Lines’ guests and to start Myanmar on its journey to become a worldwide cruise destination,' said Kent Zhu, president of Genting Cruise Lines.

'Genting Hong Kong recognizes Myanmar as an important developing market with great potential in Asia and looks forward to playing an instrumental role in the evolution of the country’s tourism sector,' Zhu added.

To capitalize on this partnership, Genting Cruise Lines created new itineraries for Star Cruises and Dream Cruises that visit MacLeod Island.

SuperStar Libra made the first call to the destination today as part of its four-night round-trip itinerary that includes stops at Kuala Lumpur, Phuket and Penang. With SuperStar Libra’s current triple homeport deployment, travelers can embark at Kuala Lumpur (via Port Klang), Penang or Phuket.

Additionally, Genting Dream will offer a special five-night itinerary from Nov. 26 to Dec. 1 from its inaugural homeport in Singapore with visits to Penang, Phuket and MacLeod Island.

Genting Cruise Lines' parent, Genting Hong Kong, has spearheaded numerous port projects in Asia, including in Guangzhou's Nansha, China, and Danang, Vietnam. Through its history stretching back to 1993 with Star Cruises, Genting HK brings to Myanmar a depth of knowledge and understanding of the cruise industry.
