eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona will take place on February 10, 2019, and GPH’s involvement follows on from its previous sponsorship of the 2018 Marabana Cuba.
The Barcelona event will be promoted by RPM-MKTG, which was also involved in the Marabana Cuba, as well as the Zurich Marató Barcelona.
18,000 runners expected in 2019 event
The Barcelona Half Marathon first took place in 1990, and its profile and the number of participants has since grown considerably, with approximately 18,000 participants expected to take part in the 2019 event, of which around 40% are expected to be foreign visitors.
Previous notable participants have included Florence Kiplagat who achieved the female world record for the Half Marathon in 2015.
The event draws runners and supporters from around the world in support of cultural tolerance.
