Golden Princess to be ‘unveiled’ in Melbourne

Golden Princess to be ‘unveiled’ in Melbourne
Princess Cruises’ Golden Princess will make a theatrical entrance when she arrives in Melbourne on Friday for a five-month maiden season of cruises from Victoria’s capital.

To mark the occasion, two helicopters will position two giant 20,000 sq ft golden curtains in front of the 108,000gt ship as she sails towards Port Phillip Bay soon after 6 a.m.

The curtains will then be drawn apart to reveal the ship to Melbourne.

The 2,600-passenger ship will be the largest ever to be homeported in Melbourne when she arrives October 30 and reflects the growing popularity of cruising in Victoria in recent years.

She has many standout features, including a nightclub suspended at the rear and reached by a moving walkway above the decks.

She also has four pools, nine whirlpools and 12 dining options and will be the first ship to offer menus by Curtis Stone following the recent announcement of an exclusive partnership between the Melbourne-born chef and Princess Cruises.
