Goldstein advises AAPA delegates: cruise ships go where they are wanted
Red tape issues and perceptions of crime, are some of the obstacles that keep cruise operators away from ports, a senior cruise line executive told a ports conference in PortMiami.

'Cruise ships go where they are wanted,' Adam Goldstein, president and chief operating officer of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. told the annual convention of the American Association of Port Authorities.

Goldstein also urged ports to think about complementarity and offer something distinctive in an itinerary.

'If the port just down the coast has a water attraction attraction, the last thing that we want is another water-park a day away, at the vessel’s next stop,’ he added.

Some 400 convention attendees heard Goldstein’s keynote address on Tuesday at  the 2015 annual convention of the AAPA, an  association representing more than 150 ports.
