The reopening of Norwegian Cruise Line's Great Stirrup Cay has been delayed a few weeks due to Hurricane Matthew, which roared through the Bahamas earlier this month. Itineraries have also been adjusted due to hurricane damage in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island.

Great Stirrup Cay had been closed since Aug. 25 for enhancements as part of 'The Norwegian Edge' program.

Due to Matthew's impact on the island and the resulting delays in construction, Great Stirrup Cay will remain closed for an additional four weeks to complete the planned upgrades. Norwegian said the destination will be ready to receive passengers on Nov. 20.

Itineraries have been adjusted.

Norwegian Sky’s three-day cruises from Miami are overnighting in Nassau while repairs from the hurricane continue in Freeport. The ship's four-day cruises are calling at Nassau and Key West.

Norwegian Breakaway’s seven-day Bahamas and Florida cruises from New York will overnight in Nassau.

And Norwegian Epic’s Nov. 12 cruise from Port Canaveral will call at Nassau.
