Guadeloupe students to assist in cruise ship welcomes, tours
Guadeloupe students will get to use their foreign language skills and destination knowledge to welcome and assist cruise visitors in a new project led by Guadeloupe Islands Tourist Board in partnership with Michelet High School.

This 'School On Board' project enables students to put their Spanish, English and German knowledge to practical use, along with sharing geographical, historical and cultural knowledge about their home.

The third year high school students will receive training about Guadeloupe, its main attractions, the major tourist sites in Pointe-a-Pitre and how to give directions and read a map.

The students will be divided into two groups. One group will go on tour with a guide to interact with passengers and the other group will be assigned to the information point at the port. They'll share information about activities and attractions in Pointe-a-Pitre and the islands of Guadeloupe.

In addition to providing a memorable experience for passengers and helping the students achieve fluency in their foreign languages, it is hoped 'School On Board' will spark interest in future tourism-related careers for the young participants.
