HAL details Koningsdam's Caribbean routes from Port Everglades
Holland America Line shared details of the November 2016 through March 2017 Caribbean cruises for the new Koningsdam—which, as president Orlando Ashford announced during Cruise Shipping Miami—will operate from Port Everglades following its inaugural Europe season.

Koningsdam's seven-day cruises will visit popular ports in the Caribbean, while the nine-, 10- and 11-day itineraries provide a wider range of destinations, for example, Amber Cove, scheduled to take its first ships late this year.

A four-day cruise to Nassau and Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas on Nov. 9, 2016, kicks off Koningsdam's program from South Florida.

Koningsdam will offer two different seven-day routes.

The eastern itinerary includes Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay, with departures on Dec. 23 (a holiday cruise falling over Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa), Jan. 8 and 29 and Feb. 12. The western route calls Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Key West, with departures on Jan. 15 and Feb. 5. The two itineraries can be combined for a non-repeating 14-day Caribbean Collectors’ Voyage.

The Dec. 14 nine-day voyage visits Half Moon Cay, Tortola, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, San Juan and Grand Turk. The Dec. 30 New Year's cruise calls Falmouth (Jamaica), Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Key West.

A 10-day southern Caribbean route takes in Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, the new Dominican Republic port of Amber Cove, Bonaire, Curaçao and Aruba. Departures are Nov. 13, Dec. 4, Feb. 19 and March 12.

The eastern Caribbean is featured on 11-day voyages that sail Nov. 23 and March 1 and 22. Koningsdam will visit St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay. The ship will offer scenic cruising in St. Lucia's Soufrière Bay and past Martinique's Mount Pelée volcano.
