Hassing shares the presidency with Karin Orsel, ceo of MF Shipping Group. Both were already KVNR board members.
The appointment took place during KVNR's general assembly, followed a meeting for the orgranization's 25th anniversary, held aboard ss Rotterdam in its namesake city. Princess Margriet was also present as an honorary KVNR member.
Hassing has a long maritime career. At HAL he serves as the front-line representative for the Dutch flag and other governmental and international maritime authorities. His job entails advising senior management on the best course of action with respect to flag state, port state and governmental and international maritime affairs.
'I'm looking forward to contributing to the main objectives of the KVNR for the future: further strengthening international competitiveness and the sustainability of Dutch shipping,' Hassing said.
