Hanseatic Spirit will be the first ship in the fleet designated for adults only
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises inked a contract with Fincantieri's Norwegian subsidiary, Vard, for a third 230-passenger expedition newbuild, to be called Hanseatic Spirit.

The deal was presaged by TUI Group in May.

Delivery in second quarter 2021

Delivery of the 15,650gt ship is scheduled in the second quarter of 2021. The price was not disclosed, but Seatrade Cruise News has estimated 2019's Hanseatic Nature and Hanseatic Inspiration at $200m each.

Hanseatic Spirit will be the fleet’s first adults-only ship.

It will be built to Polar Class 6 rating. The 139-meter/456-foot ship will have three restaurants, a high proportion of balcony cabins and space for approximately 175 crew.

'Our expedition segment is already a success and offers potential for growth in the five-star segment that we want to harness with these three new ships,' said Karl J. Pojer, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. He added that by investing in the new Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ships, the TUI Group is 'underlining its strategy for this cruise segment and the importance of our luxury brand to the group portfolio.'
