Michael Dalacouras welcomes Captain Pagonis at HELMEPA’s offices
At HELMEPA’s offices in Greece, Michael Dalacouras, deputy treasurer of the HELMEPA board of directors, met with Captain Nicholas Pagonis, avp-fleet captain, global marine operations of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, and welcomed the cruise company as HELMEPA members, and 12 cruise ships under its management.

Captain Pagonis expressed his appreciation of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association and its voluntary mission and achievements, under the motto 'To Save the Seas' during the past 35 years since the association’s founding.

Dalacouras expressed the satisfaction of all in HELMEPA for the decision of Royal Caribbean Cruises, one of the world's largest cruise lines, to register the vessels with HELMEPA.

Included in the agreement with HELMEPA, are two Azamara Club Cruises’ ships plus the vessels of the joint venture brands under the management of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd: Pullmantur Cruises, SkySea and TUI Cruises, Pagonis confirmed to Seatrade Cruise News.

The registration does not include Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises.

The voluntary training of the human factor that HELMEPA offers, will complement Royal Caribbean's spirit of pollution prevention, while HELMEPA will spread its messages to thousands of seafarers onboard cruise ships, noted Dalacouras.
