Hurricane Joaquin sparks additional minor cruise changes (**updated**)

Oct. 2 updates: The Miami-based Norwegian Sky will skip Great Stirrup Cay Sunday. Instead, it will remain at sea Saturday and arrive at Nassau Sunday morning. Carnival Fantasy will substitute Key West for Freeport on Saturday as part of the ship's five-day cruise from Charleston that sailed Thursday. Sunday's Nassau visit is still scheduled.

Carnival Cruise Line revised two additional itineraries to steel clear of powerful Hurricane Joaquin. The extremely dangerous Category 4 storm has been battering the Central Bahamas.Carnival Conquest will steer clear of Grand Turk on Saturday and spend the day at sea. The Fort Lauderdale-based ship is on an eight-day cruise that embarked Sept. 26.

Carnival Sensation will visit Freeport instead of Nassau on Saturday. The ship sailed Thursday on a three-day cruise from Port Canaveral.

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Joaquin's maximum sustained winds are near 130 mph (215 km/h) with higher gusts. Forecasters said some additional strengthening was possible Thursday night and Friday, with some fluctuations in intensity possible Friday night and Saturday.
