Carnival Cruise Line is the most impacted, with revisions to cruises sailing from Miami, Port Everglades, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville, Charleston, Baltimore and Galveston. Carnival and Disney Cruise Line each canceled a cruise from Port Canaveral, while Royal Caribbean delayed a departure from there.
As of Thursday afternoon Norwegian Cruise Line had no new itinerary changes. The company said its nautical operations team has identified alternate routes for ships that are scheduled to sail near where the storm may pass in coming days, in the event itineraries need to be adjusted.
Currently Miami-based ships Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Escape are to embark as scheduled on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
For Carnival, Miami-based Carnival Sensation will be staying at sea until the port reopens. Carnival Sensation is on a five-night voyage that had been scheduled to end Friday. Because of this change, the ship's next four-night sailing may be shortened and depart on Saturday. Should PortMiami open Friday, the cruise will sail in the early evening.
From Port Everglades, Carnival Conquest's eight-night cruise missed La Romana but kept its other ports and is due back Sunday, as scheduled.
Canaveral-based Carnival Victory's previous cruise was cut short by a day to get passengers safely disembarked on Wednesday and the ship is currently at sea, without passengers. Carnival Victory's Oct. 6 cruise was canceled.
Carnival Valor's current eight-night cruise sailed a slightly revised itinerary and is due back at Port Canaveral on Saturday, as scheduled.
The Jacksonville-based Carnival Elation is operating a revised five-night cruise, with two stops at Key West, instead of Half Moon Cay and Nassau, and the ship's return to Jacksonville on Saturday may be delayed.
The Charleston-based Carnival Ecstasy's current cruise, whose itinerary was also revised, is now staying at sea an extra day, until Sunday, when the Port of Charleston is expected to reopen. The next Carnival Ecstasy cruise is now tentatively scheduled to embark a day late, Oct. 9, and will skip the call at Grand Turk but Half Moon Day and Nassau are still in the charts.
From Baltimore, Carnival Pride's week-long cruise dropped its three calls in the Bahamas and went to New York instead, for a two-day stay. The ship is due back in Baltimore on Sunday.
Galveston-based Carnival Breeze changed the order of port calls on its current seven-night cruise and is due back in Texas on Sunday, as scheduled.
Disney Dream's current cruise from Port Canaveral is being extended by a day due to the port's closure and is expected back on Saturday. The ship's Oct. 7 cruise is canceled. Refunds will automatically go to the original form of payment, and passengers are asked to call Disney beginning Monday to book a future cruise at a discount.
Disney Fantasy's Oct. 8 cruise from Port Canaveral is expected to operate as scheduled.
Disney Magic's Oct. 7 cruise from New York is being changed to a Canadian itinerary, with plans to visit Sydney and Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Saint John, New Brunswick. Passengers who sail will receive an on-board credit. Those who cancel will get a full refund, or they can book a future cruise at a discount.
Royal Caribbean International's three-night Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral on Majesty of the Seas, due to depart Friday, is delayed until Saturday. The line is providing each stateroom with an on-board credit in the amount of one day based on the cruise fare paid, plus a 33% future cruise credit. As earlier reported, Empress of the Seas is delayed by a day, too, and will depart from PortMiami on Friday.
