Hurtigruten touts 'once in a lifetime' Antarctica pricing
Due to a last-minute release of prime cabins on several 2014/15 season Antarctica itineraries, Hurtigruten's Seattle office announced prices never before offered—and unlikely to be repeated in the future, the company said.

Savings of up to $7,820 are available with new fares running as low as $6,081 per person, double occupancy.

The 10-day 'Land of the Penguins' voyage is available starting at $6,081, departing Jan. 4 and 16, the 19-day 'In the Realm of the Great Explorers' departs on Nov. 1 and is priced from $8,680 and the 15-day 'Polar Circle Expedition' has special fares starting at $7,764 for Jan. 28 and Feb. 11 sailings.

Sailings are aboard the deluxe expedition ship Fram.

Camping overnight ashore, hiking with snowshoes, kayaking the ice-laden waters and small boat excursions are offered along with lectures by experts and the stunning scenery of the White Continent.

Perhaps the most remote of Hurtigruten’s programs is the 'Polar Circle Expedition.' This 15-day voyage sets out to cross into the Polar Circle— 66° 33’—and make landings at some of the most rarely visited areas of the Antarctica Peninsula. Possible highlights include the former research Station W on Detaille Island and the relatively unaltered and completely equipped British scientific research station from the 1950s known as Station Y Horseshoe Island.
