Iceland Travel kickstarts season with Fire & Ice event for Celebrity Eclipse

Shore excursion and cruise services provider Iceland Travel kicked off its 2017 cruise season Sunday as Celebrity Eclispe visited Reykjavik.

The stopover in Iceland's capital finished with a Fire & Ice event in Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center.

About 2,000 Captain's Club members enjoyed refreshments in the bright halls of Harpa, overlooking the old Reykjavik harbour followed by an exclusive performance by Icelandic singer, songwriter and violinist Greta Salome. The event was streamed live on Celebrity´s Facebook page.

During the call in Reykjavik, president and ceo of Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo joined the Inside the volcano tour, where she descended 120mtr into the dormant Thrihnjukagígar volcano.

She described the experience as 'incredible' during her address to the group that evening.

Emma Kjartansdóttir, manager cruise services for Iceland Travel was pleased with the start to the season: 'It has been a wonderful few days with Celebrity Eclipse which departs Monday evening and a great start to the season for us, 2017 will be the largest season for Iceland Travel with over 300 calls throughout 12 ports in Iceland.'

On Saturday, Celebrity Eclipse visited Akureyri in north Iceland.
