Impressive growth in Cruise Fredericia

The cruise season in the town of Fredericia, Denmark, has started, and the destination is growing with five calls in 2015 compared to one call in 2014.

Celebrity Cruises opened the season with two calls by Celebrity Silhouette on May 13 and May 20. A third call took place on June 5.

'The first calls from Celebrity Cruises have been very succesful. The feed back from the cruise guests and the Captain was very positive and it shows that Fredericia has no problem in handling the large cruise ships,’ says Gry Klok Thomsen, cruise business manager at Cruise Fredericia.

Many passengers visited the authentic and historic town of Fredericia, walking distance from the cruise quay. Others went on planned tours to local attractions reachable within one hour, such as Hans Christian Andersen’s Childhood Home in Odense, Egeskov Castle on Funen, the original LEGOLAND® in Billund as well as the UNESCO site Royal Jelling.

‘We have worked hard to improve the 350mtr long cruise ship quay with a new information center and arrival area for this season,’ says Gry.

This year around 12,000 passengers and 8,000 crews will pass through the new arrival area - an increase of more than 500% year-on-year.
