Silver Muse was launched Friday at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente yard. Interior fittings will now begin, with delivery scheduled for April 2017.

Godmother of the traditional coin ceremony was Costanza Lefebvre d’Ovidio, daughter of Silversea Cruises chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, who attended the ceremony together with Fincantieri ceo Giuseppe Bono.

At 40,700gt and able to accommodate 596 passengers, Silver Muse is an evolution of Silver Spirit, delivered in 2009 by Fincantieri in Ancona, with spacious all-suite accommodations, a hallmark of the Silversea experience.

The newbuild will expand Silversea's fleet to nine ships.

Fincantieri has built 74 cruise ships since 1990 and another 21 ships are currently being designed or built in the group's yards.

It's been a busy week for the Italian yard with Seven Seas Explorer, the first newbuild for Regent Seven Seas Cruises in 14 years, delivered yesterday.
