James Shillinglaw debuts InsiderTravelVideos.com

Well-known travel journalist and trade editor James Shillinglaw has launched InsiderTravelVideos.com, featuring short video interviews with key movers and shakers, including top cruise, hotel, resort, tour and airline executives.

'I’ve been doing video interviews with top executives in the travel industry for the past seven years,' Shillinglaw said, 'so I felt there was room in the market for a website where you could hear from these executives on a regular basis. We are focused on allowing travel agents and consumers to better know the men and women behind the travel industry.'

Shillinglaw, who also serves as editor-at-large for Travel Market Report, previously worked for more than 11 years as editor-in-chief and editorial director at TravAlliancemedia. He was the founding editor of two trade publications, Agent@Home, a monthly magazine for home-based travel agents, and Vacation Agent, a monthly magazine for sellers of leisure travel. He also was founding editor of TravelPulse.com, a daily newsletter and website offering news, analysis and video interviews for travel agents and the travel industry.

From 1991 until 2003, he served in various editorial roles at Travel Agent magazine, including editor-in-chief for four years. Shillinglaw received the American Society of Travel Agents' Journalist of the Year award in 2003 and 2014.

For his new venture Shillinglaw has partnered with Alan Fine, an experienced film and video director, editor and producer. InsiderTravelVideo.com will offer a range of video production services, including executive video interviews, as well as destination and product videos. These videos will be distributed through several outlets, including TAConnect, a B2B sales, marketing and trade database platform, and Travel Market Report, a daily newsletter for agents.

'We will offer paid video opportunities for travel companies, as well as one-off videos highlighting travel companies and products that are in the news,' Shillinglaw said. 'We also will be selling advertising on the site and will offer other marketing opportunities for travel companies.'

Another travel information website project specifically for consumers is being developed, too.
