Frankfurt-based KfW IPEX-Bank appointed Holger Apel, currently managing director, basic industries, to md, maritime industries. He'll succeed Carsten Wiebers, who is moving to head aviation and rail.

Effective Sept. 1, the changes are part of a job rotation that also sees Michael Nosbüsch, who heads aviation and rail, moving to md, basic industries.

'This rotation exemplifies the forward-looking HR management practiced at our bank and serves to broaden our competence portfolio,' said Klaus R. Michalak, ceo, KfW IPEX-Bank.

The aim, he added, is for the managing directors to contribute the competence and expertise they have acquired in other market segments to sectors that are new to them. 'This will help generate new ideas for our export and project finance business, which is taking place in an increasingly competitive environment,' Michalak said.

The three departments count among the focus industries of KfW IPEX-Bank. In financial year 2015, they were important drivers of the bank's total new commitment volume of €20.2bn, with the maritime industries sector contributing €3.6bn, aviation and rail accounting for €2.8bn, and basic industries contributing €1.7bn.
