Holland America Line's Koningsdam received a perfect 100 score on its first US Public Health inspection.

The ship was introduced in Europe in April and made its maiden visit to the US in November.

The unannounced USPH inspection was held Dec. 20 during a call at San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the middle of a 10-day Caribbean cruise.

'A new class of ship means many firsts for our crew in managing operations on board, and we couldn’t be more proud of everyone on Koningsdam who worked diligently to earn a perfect score for the ship’s first public health inspection in the United States,' HAL president Orlando Ashford said.

In 2016, five additional HAL ships aced USPH: Maasdam, Veendam, Noordam, Eurodam and Westerdam. Eurodam became the first ship in company history to chalk up 10 consecutive perfect USPH scores when it underwent inspection last March.
