Kristiansand's new cruise berth officially opened Wednesday with the arrival of Costa Favolosa.

The ship's officers, crew and passengers were welcomed to the City of Kristiansand's new infrastructure by the port director, Halvard Aglen.

'The new cruise berth allows the Port of Kristiansand to welcome ships up to Oasis-class in size and is an important part of our strategy of increasing the number of port calls and improving the trademark of the Port of Kristiansand as one of Norway`s most attractive cruise ports,' he commented.

'The cruise pier is located in the heart of the city centre, and the investment underlines our position as the natural choice of port call between Oslo and Bergen,' he added.

Located in southern Norway and opposite Denmark's northern shores, Kristiansand promotes itself as a port of call to, 'add another country to the Baltic' said the port director.

'This marks the opening of a new chapter in our port's history. We appreciate the support of returning cruise lines that have seen the benefits of port calls in Kristiansand. Costa Cruises is one and we are delighted to welcome Costa Favolosa as the first ship to our new facility,' Aglen remarked.
