Le Havre celebrates its 500th anniversary with a special beach message using pebbles
Taking advantage of a low tide, staff from Le Havre’s Tourist Office used pebbles from the beach to write out LH 500ANS to mark the city’s 500th anniversary.

Le Havre Tourism has been promoting the half millennium landmark for the past few months to the local community as well as visitors with various events and festivals.

To prepare for the beach message the tourism office worked with SIGU (Urban Geographic Information System), the beach services and city officials to evaluate and identify the technical needs and constraints to plan the message delivery.

Each letter measured 7.5mtr and the entire inscription stretched 76.69mtr.

The estimated number of pebbles used is 24,504.

The photographer took the aerial shot using a drone and the moment was captured on a short video by the Le Havre Tourism team.
