Legend of the Seas' exit shakes up Rhapsody, Vision deployments

Legend of the Seas' exit shakes up Rhapsody, Vision deployments
With Legend of the Seas going to Thomson Cruises in March 2017, Royal Caribbean International is adjusting the deployments of Rhapsody of the Seas and Vision of the Seas. Some sailings will be canceled.

Legend leaves the fleet on March 26, 2017. The ship's round-trip Brisbane, Australia, sailings departing on Jan. 6, 15 and 29 and Feb. 8 will operate as scheduled. The sailings from Feb. 20 onward are canceled. This includes the summer cruises from Venice, Italy, as well as the balance of the Brisbane itineraries.

Three repositioning cruises on Legend of the Seas will be offered beginning on Feb. 20 from Brisbane. These include an 11-night cruise to Singapore, a 10-night sailing from Singapore to Dubai and a 13-night cruise from Dubai to Barcelona.

Rhapsody of the Seas will transition to Venice for the summer. Sailings from Cape Liberty, New Jersey, are canceled. The ship will operate its full schedule in fall 2016 and winter 2017 from Tampa.

On April 29, 2017, Rhapsody will sail from Tampa to Barcelona on a 14-night crossing. On May 13, the ship will reposition to Venice from Barcelona via a seven-night cruise.

Then, through the end of October, Rhapsody will operate week-long round-trips from Venice. After this Mediterranean program, the ship returns to Tampa for departures starting Nov. 19, 2017.

Vision of the Seas will offer four fall foliage sailings from Cape Liberty after completing a northerly crossing from Copenhagen. On Aug. 22, the ship will cast off from the Danish capital on a 16-night voyage with calls at Denmark, Norway, Scotland and Iceland.

From Cape Liberty, a 13-night cruise on Sept. 7 will take Vision of the Seas to Québec City. The other fall foliage sailings from Cape Liberty on Sept. 20, Oct. 1 and Oct. 11 will replace the previously planned Rhapsody cruises. They include calls at Boston and multiple ports in Maine and Nova Scotia.

Vision of the Seas' scheduled fall Europe itineraries, including those departing from Venice Aug. 22 through Nov. 17, 2017, are canceled.

Passengers on the affected sailings will be provided a full refund, the opportunity to re-book on another Royal Caribbean ship and an on-board credit to use on their new sailing. In addition, Royal Caribbean will be refunding the cost of air tickets purchased through the line and covering airline change fees for travelers who booked their air independently.

Commissions for travel agents will be protected for all fully paid cruises.
