Ann Sherry said P&O Cruises Australia's fleet will be 'refreshed' over time
Immediately following Arnold Donald’s announcement that Carnival Corp. & plc had taken a noncash charge for the ‘strategic realignment of the Australian business’ during the company’s third quarter earnings report, major changes were announced for its Australia-based fleet.

Princess Cruises’ Golden Princess will join P&O Cruises Australia’s fleet in 2020, instead of Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Splendor which had been earmarked to go to Australia in 2019.

The 2,600-passenger Golden Princess came on line in 2001 and the 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor entered service in 2008.

Princess Cruises’ 3,080-passenger Ruby Princess, built in 2008, will replace Golden Princess in serving Australia during wave seasons.

Golden Princess will be P&O Cruises Australia’s first Ocean Medallion-enabled ship and the decision to put its passengers at the heart of this industry innovation is a mark of respect for the Australian consumer, Carnival Australia executive chairman Ann Sherry said.

Sherry also announced that Carnival Cruise Line will have two ships sailing full-time in Australia, but it has yet to confirm if the second ship will be Carnival Legend which has been operating alongside resident Carnival Spirit during Australian summer seasons.
