Shipyard workers have been on strike over unpaid wages
A new three member management and supervisory board has been selected to run troubled Uljanik shipbuilding group in Croatia. This follows the resignation of chairman Gianni Rossanda last week.

Uljanik's shipyard in Pula is currently constructing Scenic Eclipse for Australia's Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours but workers at the shipyard have been on strike for two weeks according to local media over unpaid wages for September.

Workers at 3 Maj, a sister shipyard in Rijeka, are also on strike.

Scenic building two discovery yachts at Uljanik

In July, Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic announced that the launch of Scenic Eclipse had been delayed until late January 2019 citing ‘construction issues at the shipyard’.

It is unclear if the recent unrest will further push back delivery of the 17,085gt cruise vessel.

In February 2018, Scenic confirmed a second 'discovery yacht' from Uljanik’s Pula yard due for delivery in May 2020 when at that time the first vessel was scheduled to debut in late August this year.

Uljanik has been building ships in Pula since 1856 and last year delivered two tankers, a car carrier and a bulk carrier.
