Marco Polo returns to place of build and closes Wismar's season
Columbus Cruise Center Wismar and its official partner, the Hanse Sektkellerei Wismar hosted a musical fireworks display to mark the departure of Marco Polo last Friday, this season's final cruise call.

Together with the City of Wismar, Columbus Cruise Center can look back on 11 calls in 2014.

‘The finale to this more than satisfactory season,’ explained Michael Kremp, managing director at Columbus Cruise Center Wismar GmbH, ‘saw Cruise and Maritime Voyages' Marco Polo return to the city it was built in in 1960.’ The former Alexander Pushkin, one of five sister-vessels of the Ivan Franko class, was built at Mathias-Thesen yard.

This year, 14,000 passengers and 6,500 crew visited Wismar, compared to two vessels the previous year.

In 2015, Wismar has 14 cruise calls booked.
