UK-based Marella Cruises launched its first ever television advert on January 1, 2018 that will run for four weeks cementing the new brand name amongst key audiences.

The advert features in the same ad breaks as TUI, and is being shown on popular channels including ITV, Channel 4 and some Sky channels.

The new campaign follows the recent rebrand from Thomson Cruises to Marella Cruises as the UK travel brand embarked on its rebrand in October. The word Marella, which means ‘shining sea’ in Celtic, was chosen by the company to reflect its spirit of exploration and discovery across the seas. The ad shows one of the company’s newest ships Marella Discovery sailing across the open seas.

The 10 second advert created by Y&R using Brace productions content uses the same music and voice over from Keeley Hawes recognisable from the TUI advert, reassuring customers that Marella Cruises is still part of the world of TUI.

Chris Hackney, md of Marella Cruises said: ‘This is an incredibly exciting time for our business. It’s the first time in our history that we have had a cruise advert on television.’

The advert forms part of a wider marketing campaign with focuses on both print and digital.
