MedCruise and PIANC sign MOU to collaborate on matters related to cruise port infrastructure

MedCruise and PIANC sign MOU to collaborate on matters related to cruise port infrastructure
PIANC, the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure, and MedCruise have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work in partnership across areas related to maritime transport infrastructure and to co-operate, communicate and collaborate on matters related to cruise ports, whilst respecting their individual identities, membership expectations and traditions.

MedCruise and PIANC will support the work of each other through participation in relevant committees, workshops, conferences, and seminars.

The two associations collaboration includes joint activities such as coordination of efforts on themes of common concerns in cruise port infrastructure development, the co-organisation of seminars/conferences and educational/training programs and discussions with ports authorities and port professionals on a global basis.

Thanos Pallis, MedCruise secretary general comments,  'This partnership is great news for MedCruise members. PIANC brings together the best international experts on technical issues pertaining to waterborne transport infrastructures. This knowledge, partnered with the expertise of our members, will advance the prospects of cruise ports in the Med and its adjoining seas.'

he added, 'for MedCruise, collaboration with other international port associations is of strategic importance as they facilitate our members benefiting from the growth of the cruise industry.'

Louis Van Schel, PIANC secretary general said, 'This year's publication of PIANC’s working group report:  'Guidelines for Cruise Terminals' was the start of negotiations between our two associations  to come to a more effective and constructive co-operation in the future. I am very pleased that the first concrete projects are now implemented for the mutual benefit of both associations.'
