Following the successful launching event of the Pan-European dialogue between cruise operators, ports and coastal tourism stakeholders, MedCruise joined major stakeholders, including CLIA Europe and ESPO in a meeting structuring the way forward for the dialogue.
The meeting, organised by DG MARE, the European Commission Directorate General for Maritime Policy and Fisheries, concluded with a number of next steps to be orchestrated by the EC.
DG-MOVE, the European Commission Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (Ports and Inland Navigation) organised the first panel discussion with stakeholders on differentiated port infrastructure charges to promote environmentally friendly maritime transport activities.
MedCruise progressed the dialogue and committed to participation to the next steps, aiming to promote the dissemination and implementation of best practices in cruise ports in the Med and its adjoining seas.
MedCruise actively participated at the European Sustainable Shipping Forum meeting where Mangiarotti presented the work that MedCruise has developed in providing intelligence on Waste Reception Facilities available in MedCruise Ports – an innovative MedCruise project, that will inform the progress of the review of the relative European Directive that is currently in progress.
Last week MedCruise vp and Dubrovnik Port Authority’s Kristijan Pavic was among the keynote speakers of the 2015 edition of Adriatic Sea Forum.
This event, organised by Risposte Turismo, was held in MedCruise member Port of Dubrovnik, Croatia, attracting 40 speakers including MedCruise's Roberto Perocchio, managing Director of Venezia Terminal Passeggeri and president of Assomarinas.
Pavic and Perocchio both emphasised the need for greater cooperation among the countries that border the Adriatic and reminded delegates of the extent to which economic development in the area is able to generate and safeguard sustainability.
