MedCruise members host 27.4m cruise visitors in 2015
A total of 27.4m cruise passenger movements were recorded in MedCruise member ports in 2015, representing a 6.2% increase compared to 2014 whn the number stood at 25.8m.

In terms of cruise ship calls, MedCruise ports which cover 100 plus destinations in the Med and its adjoining seas recorded 13,194 in 2015, down 4% compared to last year.

The latest figures were presented by MedCruise's new president Kristijan Pavic, at Seatrade Cruise Global yesterday.

The 2016 edition of MedCruise Statistics Report is a special edition, as the Association celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, commented Pavic.

The trend of larger vessels is reflected in the fact 2015 is the first year that the average number of passengers per cruise call in the region was higher than 2,000, while in 2000, the average stood at 848 passenger visits per cruise call.

Pavic said, 'The MedCruise report outlines another successful year for cruise ports in the Med and its adjoining seas, based on the annual cruise traffic data of 73 MedCruise port members that represent 80% of the total cruise passenger movements in the region.'

Regarding distribution of calls, the West Med accounted for 72% of all passenger visits, followed by 16% in Eastern Med, 11% in the Adriatic and 1% in the Black Sea.
