MedCruise to continue contributing expertise to European Sustainable Shipping Forum
Issues related to implementation and operation of Directive 2000/59 referring to Port Reception Facilities(PRF) and the need and scope of its possible revision were among the key themes discussed by experts during the 6th plenary session of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum (ESSF) group, held in Brussels on June 28, with the active participation of MedCruise.

MedCruise is among several groups providing ongoing expertise to the ESSF, following a selection procedure by the European Commission.

The ESSF brings together EU Member States, maritime industry and environmental stakeholders and the relevant Commission services.

It enables an exchange of best practices and coordination, and opportunity to discuss practical issues that could be encountered during the implementation process of the EU legislation, activities and programs with the aim to foster sustainable maritime transport in general.

MedCruise has participated at ESSF since its establishment, assisting the Forum to contribute towards achieving sustainable and competitive EU maritime transport.

MedCruise will continue to monitor and shape discussions of the ESSF sub-group on PRF including interpretative implementation guidelines and technical recommendations, results of the ex-post evaluation study that has been commissioned by the European Commision and analysis and evaluation of cost recovery systems.
