After the weekend Mein Schiff 2 will be moved to the yard's outfitting pier
One month after delivering Mein Schiff 1, Meyer Turku today floated out the 111,500gt Mein Schiff 2. The 3,132-passenger ship is scheduled to be handed over to TUI Cruises early next year.

The construction timetable shows how the Turku shipyard is ramping up production volume to meet the increasing demands of the record cruise ship orderbook.

Block production capacity up to Allure of the Seas-era high

'Our block production capacity is already up on the level with the previous high of 2010, when the shipyard was building Allure of the Seas,' Meyer Turku CEO Jan Meyer noted. 'Ramping up the production at the same time as we are implementing an investment program of €200m has not been a simple task. Still, as the saying at the shipyard goes, if it were simple, anybody could do it, and that would not be good either.'

After the weekend Mein Schiff 2 will be moved to the yard's outfitting pier.

Living up to TUI's expectations

'Our new Mein Schiff 1 has successfully completed her first cruises and has been very well received by our guests. Our new generation of ships meet our expectations completely. We are looking very much forward to putting sister ship Mein Schiff 2 into service very soon,' said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.

This new series of Mein Schiffs stretches 315 meters, 20 meters longer than TUI's earlier newbuilds.

Mein Schiff 2 will be registered in Malta.
