Enrique de la Madrid Cordero - confirmed to attend FCCA in Cozumel, Oct. 5-9
Mexico's newly appointed Secretary of Tourism Enrique de la Madrid Cordero has confirmed his plans to attend the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Conference and Trade Show in Cozumel.

De la Madrid assumed his role in late August, succeeding Claudia Ruiz Massieu, who was named the new secretary of foreign relations.

Before taking the helm at SECTUR, de la Madrid was director general of Bancomext, a state-owned bank and export credit agency. He is the son of the late Miguel de la Madrid Hurtado, Mexico's president from 1982 to 1988.

The Oct. 5-9 FCCA event is expected to have a strong attendance from Mexico and will feature a workshop, 'Overcoming Challenges—Learn from Mexico.'

Moderated by FCCA president Michele Paige, the panel will share experiences and insight from Mexico’s rise, fall and resurgence as a cruise destination. It will feature government leaders including Quintana Roo Gov. Roberto Borge, Sinaloa Gov. Mario López Valdez and Cozumel Mayor Freddy Marrufo.
