Majesty of the Seas' Oct. 8 cruise from Port Canaveral is canceled
Cruise lines are working to get itineraries from South Florida ports back on track, with PortMiami and Port Everglades opened following Hurricane Matthew. But Canaveral, Jacksonville and Charleston remain closed as the storm heads up the East Coast, and it's uncertain when ships can return to the Bahamas.

Royal Caribbean International became the latest line to cancel a cruise, Majesty of the Seas' Oct. 8 sailing from Port Canaveral. Passengers will get a full refund or a future cruise credit in the amount of 150% of the fare paid.

With PortMiami reopened Friday morning, Empress of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas will sail today, but passengers are asked not to arrive at the port before 5 p.m. Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Sky also will have a slightly delayed embarkation today at Miami, and the ship's three-day cruise will not visit Nassau but will remain at sea. Passengers will receive a 50% credit towards a future cruise.

For Carnival Cruise Line, the Miami-based Carnival Sensation is planned to be alongside Terminal D at 4 p.m. today. Check-in will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., with sailing shortly after. The ship is scheduled to visit Key West on Sunday, however, if Bahamian officials give the OK, Carnival Sensation will go to Nassau instead. Passengers who sail on the shortened voyage will receive a pro-rated refund equal to the amount of one day of their cruise fare. Those who cancel will get a full refund.

Carnival Fantasy was to be alongside Terminal E at 2 p.m., with check-in scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and departure soon after. Given the uncertainty caused by Hurricane Matthew, passengers who cancel will get a full refund.

With Matthew hitting central to northern Florida on Friday, Port Canaveral remains closed and should it reopen Saturday, Carnival Magic embarkation would take place late afternoon/early evening. Concerning Carnival Valor's cruise, an update is expected after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Disney Cruise Line's customer contact center is closed and expected to reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Disney Fantasy's Oct. 1 cruise is being extended by a day with the plan to disembark passengers at Port Canaveral on Sunday.

Disney Fantasy's Oct. 8 cruise is being altered to a six-night Western Caribbean sailing departing Oct. 9. The ship will visit Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay. Passengers who sail will receive a pro-rated refund equal to the amount of one night of their cruise fare and an on-board credit. Those who rebook another cruise will get a discount, while passengers who cancel will get a full refind.

Disney Dream's cruise is being extended by one day and is now planned to disembark at Port Canaveral Saturday morning. As earlier reported, the ship's Oct. 7 cruise was canceled.

The Jacksonville area is forecast to bear the brunt of the storm Friday evening and early Saturday morning. Once conditions become safe, officials will begin their assessment of the port. Carnival will keep passengers informed about Carnival Elation's Oct. 8 sailing.

The Port of Charleston will likely be closed on Saturday so Carnival Ecstasy is not expected to arrive until Sunday. If the port reopens Sunday, the ship will operate a six-day cruise departing Sunday. Passengers who sail will receive a pro-rated refund equal to the amount of one day of their cruise fare and a refund for pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions for Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay. Those who cancel will get a full refund.

Due to Matthew's current forecasted track, it isn't safe for the Baltimore-based Carnival Pride to head south. So the ship's Oct. 9 seven-night cruise will go to Saint John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Pre-purchased shore excursions for Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport, as well as any difference in government fees and taxes, will be automatically refunded to shipboard accounts. Passengers who sail on the modified itinerary will also get a $100 per person on-board credit and a 25% future cruise discount for a two- to seven-day voyage. Those who cancel will get a full refund.

In other NCL changes, Norwegian Escape's current cruise is skipping Nassau today and will remain at sea. In order to avoid any potential bad weather associated with the storm, Norwegian Breakaway will depart from Bermuda today two hours earlier than scheduled, at 1 p.m.
