A sunny, airy, sophisticated venue
A sweeping staircase and dramatic wine tower highlight the main dining venue aboard Holland America Line's new Koningsdam. HAL president Orlando Ashford calls the restaurant 'an impressive work of art.'

This bright, modern, two-story venue has a sophisticated, airy ambiance. Sunny and yellow, it features expansive windows. After dark the color turns to a shade of amber, setting the tone for a more elegant evening dining ambience.

Created by noted hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany, The Dining Room reflects the ship’s overall design theme that was inspired by the architecture of music. Structural ribs inspired by the strings of a classical harp connect the first floor to the second floor ceiling and create a rounded, curvilinear space. A grand, curved staircase connects the two dining levels.

The centerpiece of The Dining Room is a sculptural champagne-gold wine tower. The room's chandeliers are made from strings of tri-color, hand-blown glass bulbs.

On the menu will be HAL signature dishes, classic selections, regionally inspired cuisine and Culinary Council recipes from the world-famous chefs who compose the group, including HAL master chef and Council chairman Rudi Sodamin and international chefs Mark Best, Jonnie Boer, David Burke, Elizabeth Falkner and Jacques Torres.

The Dining Room is the topic of HAL's latest 'Countdown to Koningsdam' video, hosted by Johnathan Rogers, the ship's inaugural cruise director, and featuring Michael Smith, svp guest experience and product development.
