Montréal cruise terminal to install shore power
The Port of Montréal will be installing a shore power connection for cruise ships at the Alexandra Pier and a four-connection system for wintering ships in a project with a total cost of $11m.

The government of Canada is providing up to $5m under its Shore Power Technology for Ports Program, while the government of Québec is providing $3m and the Montréal Port Authority the remaining $3m.

Port of Montréal ceo Sylvie Vachon thanked the federal and provincial governments for their support of the shore power project, which she said will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the port.

The reductions are projected to reach 2,800 tons annually—1,300 tons from cruise ship connections and 1,500 tons from wintering ships.
